چکیده

Functional and formal verification are important methodologies for complex mixed-signal designs. But there exists a verification gap between the analog and digital blocks of a mixed-signal system. Our approach improves the verification process by creating mixed-signal assertions which are described by a combination of digital assertions and analog properties. The proposed method is a new assertion-based verification flow for designing mixed-signal circuits. The effectiveness of the approach is demonstrated on a Σ/∆-

Checking Heterogeneous Signal Characteristics Applying Assertion-Based Verification

Heterogeneous system verification lacks on functional and formal verification methodologies. A verification gap exists between the different signal domains. To bridge this gap an assertion-based design method is essential. This requires the integration of the special analog characteristics in formal digital temporal assertions. Therefore, we defined a new set of mixed-signal assertions to impro...

Formal Verification of Analog and Mixed Signal Designs: A Survey ⋆

Analog and Mixed Signal (AMS) designs are an important part of embedded systems that link digital designs to the analog world. Due to challenges associated with its verification process, AMS designs require a considerable portion of the total design cycle time. In contrast to digital designs, the verification of AMS systems is a challenging task that requires lots of expertise and deep understa...

Towards Assertion Based Verification of Analog and Mixed Signal Designs Using PSL

Analog and Mixed Signal (AMS) designs are important integrated systems that link digital circuits to the analog world. Following the success of PSL verification methodologies, recent research suggested extending PSL to support AMS systems. However, PSL has been defined initially to formalize properties about logical signals using models such as automata. In fact, the presence of continuous sign...

Examples of Analog Assertions

In this document, we present two case studies on using assertions to specify and check properties of analog circuits. The first case study considers several properties of a FLASH memory cell while the second one studies an alignment property of a DDR2 memory interface. The specification language used to write the assertions is STL/PSL, an analog extension of a continuous-time temporal logic ins...

Analog property checkers: a DDR2 case study

The formal specification component of verification can be exported to simulation through the idea of property checkers. The essence of this approach is the automatic construction of an observer from the specification in the form of a program that can be interfaced with a simulator and alert the user if the property is violated by a simulation trace. Although not complete, this lighter approach ...
